Hard work, people come and going....maybe two lovers sneaking out there out night for a little privacy...maybe workers slept in the top....how many animals must call it home....if the walls could talk....might be a best seller.

Down in Texas you can find something on top of lots of buildings but thankfully it isn't that popular here yet, so when you run across it you still get a little excitement out of it.

Would be interesting to know what the horse is made of... surely not concrete and just where would you get one at? Can't you just see him coming lose and flying all over the place in a storm?

This hotel is located in Poinsett County. I always wonder what it would have been like to live in a house like this back in the day. It was a railroad hotel. Where did the train stop. Did they get excited in anticpation at its arrival? Did it stop every day? Just a few thoughts as I picture people standing on the front porch.

Sometimes at lunch I browse an old flea market and take my camera. Not that I need it, but I am glad they invented Midol. I would hate to have to get my daughters to take this stuff. I also, can't imagine paying 100 bucks for the bottle either, but I guess if you needed it for a collection it would be worth it. By the way, I like to collect old bottles but certainly wouldn't pay more than 5 bucks for one.

This old barn is in Paragould, Greene County, Arkansas. Would be nice if someone new the history on it or who built it...its a pretty good size barn and most interesting.

I am on a roll here lately. There are 4 markers here, not to far from Chenal. I saw them from the backside and they "looked" like military markers. Who would ever guess they were for cherished dogs....obviously well loved to have this kind of money spend on them.

I just thought this was the cutest 3D sign. Located close to Crowley's Ridge State Park in Greene County, Arkansas.

I am just bouncing off the wall here...all these people checking out my website. I just found out today that the Old State House had me listed last week as the "History Site of the Week."

This is only the 4th Revolutionary War Soldier I have run across. Sometimes I wonder how many are buried here in Arkansas. All 4 of them have been newer markers that later generations placed on the grave. I wonder if there are any original ones left?

Went to the "Sandwiching in History" program presented by Elizabeth James with the Arkansas Historic Preservation Organization. Today's program was on the Argenta Rock Island Depot in North Little Rock and there were approximately 50 - 60 people present. It is pretty interesting, this is the first one I have attended on the suggestion of Kay Tatum. I am looking forward to next months now! I will be posting the pics of the depot when I get back next week.

Sometimes I get email asking me about this marker located at the Little Rock National Cemetery. It has been awhile since I photographed this (2001) but it seems to me like there were individual markers....maybe not for all 640 but there were some. Would be interesting to know why they were originally moved from Mt. Holly to the Little Rock National. I have been told in the past, but not enough to recall formerly stepping my foot off in it. :)

I find this marker at Mount Holly interesting, not only because of who it is, but the number of items left by visitors. I am going to check back in a year and photograph it again to see "if" and "what" has disappeared from it.

I find this marker very interesting & one of these days I am going to see if I can find any articles on it in the paper. It is located over at Oakland Fraternal Cemetery in Little Rock, Arkansas.

This is Mr. Herman Uekman. He's white and buried somewhere at Sumner Cemetery. I don't know where he's buried as he likes to move around. I would love to know the story behind this "marker." It a hubcap, turned upside down, and filled with concrete. Everytime I have been to Sumner Cemetery in Jacksonville, he is in a new location. He just bounces around from one spot to another. Anyway...it gives me a chuckle...I know, I am sadistic like that but I can only think whoever did this, also has a sense of humor.

I find this article funny....United States Government approved....radio - active hot waters. Probably a good thing they have dropped that from their advertising, but it does make me wonder about the water over there now. ;)

The past few days have been dreary here in central Arkansas. This photograph is all the motivation I can work up. Ha......and it has nothing to do with history or genealogy. I need sunshine, warmth, and spring!

Sunday, I drove down to the Cadron Creek Park to photograph this cabin...the Daniel Greathouse Cabin. Was it there? No. Two dozen (at least) have copied and keep posting the wrong information. This picture is from Pat Anthony, along with the others I have posted at

Pat told me that the Greathouse Cabin is at the Faulkner County Court House. I was up there Sunday, and I am sure it is probably still there but I didn't see it or a sign, but then again, I wasn't looking for it over there.

I saw your blog post regarding the Greathousehome and thought I'd pass this along. During a web search,I came across the same inaccurate information about the Greathouse home. The Daniel Greathouse home is actually located in downtown Conway one street behind the Faulkner County Courthouse. It currently serves as the FaulknerCounty Museum. We are trying to get a fence around the Bayou Meto Cemetery. We had (2) vandalism's recently. The first they turned over and broke about 200 monuments. We have most of them repaired now, thanks to the Jacksonville Fire Departments Union.
